We welcomed Ketton Sports Black to a very wet and windy Fulbridge Road.
Regardless of Ketton's league position, we were expecting a tough physical battle.
Ketton started the better team and deservedly took the lead to go 1-0, and, in the next few mins, if it wasn't for our superb new keeper Dan, it would have been more!
This kick started the boys into gear, and we started to play our football.
Goal
After a couple of decent attacks, Freddie found himself in some space inside the box after a lovely assist from Ricardo, Freddie calmly slotted the ball past the keeper. 1-1 on 13mins.
Goal
Now the boys really started to put the pressure on Ketton and were rewarded with an outstanding team goal , which started with our keeper Dan, then some quick fire passing it ended up with Freddie again scoring with a super finish. 2-1. 26mins.
Ketton rallied a bit and continued to cause problems with their long throws and set pieces, but our defence stood firm.
Goal
Still, we kept playing the football and were rewarded with another well taken goal by Freddie to claim his hat-trick!
3-1. 41mins. HT
2nd half started, and with conditions worsening, it proved to be a tough half to play football.
But the boys dug deep and continued to play the football and started to dominate possession, creating chance after chance, hitting the post and with some stubborn defending by Ketton and great saves by the keeper it proved to be very difficult for us to find the net.
As the game drew to a close, Ketton pushed forward in the hope of getting back into it, but again, our defence blocked everything.
The final whistle blew with a 3-1 victory for FCP.
It was another tough Div 4 game for this group of young players, playing against a side that fought to the end.
It's in these types of games, playing in those conditions, where a very bright future lays ahead for these young players and FCP.
