FC Peterborough 6-1 AFC Sudbury Reserves

After last week’s morale-boosting win against Wivenhoe, FCP were eager to build momentum and keep the winning streak alive. The return of Momodou to the starting line-up provided a much-needed boost to the midfield, while young Taylor earned a starting spot after an impressive performance off the bench, earning him the Green Army Man of the Match last week.

The game kicked off brightly under clear skies, with both teams showing attacking intent. Despite several promising moves, neither side could break the deadlock in the early stages.

AFC Sudbury were the first to capitalise, taking the lead in the 25th minute. A momentary lapse in defence allowed them to break through and find the back of the net.

But their celebration was short-lived. Just moments after the restart, Momodou unleashed a stunning strike from 25 yards out, lobbing the keeper with a sublime effort that left the fans in awe.

Sudbury threatened to regain the lead, but Sarunas pulled off a fantastic save, stretching full-length to deny what looked like a certain goal. It was a reminder of why he’s considered one of the best shot-stoppers in the league.

The weather then took a turn for the worse, with a torrential downpour and a thunderstorm forcing a 20-minute break. It proved to be the perfect opportunity for FCP to regroup, and whatever was said by the coaching staff during the delay worked wonders. When the team returned for the second half, they were unrecognisable, delivering a performance of pure dominance.

Momodou then turned provider, delivering a pinpoint cross from a seemingly contentious free-kick. Atif rose highest to nod it past the keeper, sparking cheers from the crowd – especially his dad, who had something to celebrate after last week’s Forest match!

The goals kept coming. This time, it was Devonte’s turn to join the party, netting his first goal for FCP. It was a moment of pure joy for the team and fans alike, with Sadat and Raf’s celebrations on the touchline showing just how much it meant.

Goal: FCP 5-1 AFC Sudbury
Devonte wasn’t done yet. He added his second of the match with a composed finish, eyeing up the Golden Boot with a performance that will live long in the memory.

The fans, sensing more goals, began chanting for six, directing their pleas at Captain Zahid. The team responded to their supporters’ calls with more clinical play.

Micky delivered a perfectly weighted assist to Vitor, who placed his shot into the bottom corner, leaving the keeper with no chance. The crowd erupted as FCP sealed a comprehensive win.

The Green Army had been craving goals all season, and today the team delivered in style. With two wins from two, FCP are climbing up the league table, brimming with confidence and ready to face their next challenge.
