We welcomed the league leaders and unbeaten Thorpe Wood Rangers to a very cold Fulbridge Road.
It was always going to be a very tough game today, but the boys had belief and rightly so in their own abilities to play against these sides.
The game started really well for FCP and, for the first 20 minutes, kept a good shape and defensively very good.
Unfortunately, in the next 10 minutes, TWR showed their quality with three very well taken goals, including an outstanding free kick.
This knocked the boys, and it was about trying to get HT and keeping it at 3-0.
They dug deep, but a slight error led to a fourth and a fortuitous strike, which meant it was 5-0 TWR at HT.
2nd half began with a slight tweak in formation and more aggressive forward football needed. The boys really stepped it up and played some lovely football and tried to be on the front foot.
This led to a few more gaps at the back, which TWR exploited to make it 6-0.
The boys didn't let their heads drop for the remainder of the 2nd half and continued to fight, challenge for every ball, and created some good chances, but we just could not take one.
Near the end, TWR made it 7-0.
FT- FCP 0-7 TWR.
Reece and Myself were very proud of the performance today, especially in the 2nd half against a
TWR side that were too strong for us and for Div 4 level.
In saying that, the boys will take much more out of that game for their future development within FCP.
The future is very bright for these young players and FCP.
